New floor!
So my coach just told us that this summer we are getting a new floor! A new spring floor. This is really surprising because the gym's owner usually won't buy any new equipment. We have had the same old equipment, including the floor, for years. The only time he will get something new is if it breaks. It will be really nice though. Our floor is a really old crappy one. Everybody hates. When we hold meets at our gym every other team complains about it. For once, we will have the nice floor. Also, it should help our tumbling a lot. Whenever we go to other gyms our tumbling improves and it is because of their floor.
This is Ohio State Gymnastics
Grant from the clinic that we had at out gym went to Ohio State. He is in this video. Men's College Gymnastics has gone down hill a lot even since he was in this video. There is only like 25 colleges that even offer a men's program anymore. Then very few of them give scholarships for colleges. Very rarely does a student get a full ride for gymnastics. Also, the programs are diminishing because there is no funding for them. In the 90's there was a lot more colleges that had men's programs. Most of them were stopped because of lack of funding. Some programs actually have no funding. They just have to work off what they have.

Off Season
Now that it is off season our workouts are way different. We do lots and lots of basics. The first half of practice is just basics on different events. We are also doing tons of strength. Wednesdays and Fridays all we do for 3 hours is strength. Also, since I had my boot on for awhile all I was doing was strength so I have been doing lots of strength recently. Since I have been doing so much, it makes my gymnastics much easier. I can do all of my skills easier because of my new strength. Hopefully next year I will have some new strength based skills.

Injured
So the first day back after Regionals we decided to have a gym party. I was double bouncing people on tramp and when i jumped on to double bounce a kid, my ankle rolled really bad. It swelled up some and I couldn't walk on it. The next day we went the doctors. I had to get an X-ray. They said that i had a severe sprain but also that my bones in the back of my foot had started to fuse together. I had to go see a specialist. Luckily he said I didn't have to have surgery and that everything would heal. They gave me a big boot to walk in. So I have just been going into the gym and doing lots of strength. Its slowly getting better and hopefully i will be back to normal soon!
REGIONAL CHAMPION!!
I had Regionals a couple weekends ago! It went great! I ended up being Regional Champion!! That was exciting! The meet was held in Colorado Springs. New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado teams were all present at the meet. Overall I did pretty well. It was a big surprise being regional champion. My teammate Eric got 4th all around in his division. That was exciting for him as well. The rest of the team did well. We had about 75% of our team that made it to Regionals. It started Friday night and then continued until Sunday. It was the first time they had Regionals at the Air Force Academy. It was fun to have it there. Overall, it was a good meet.

State
I had state a couple weekends ago.. It didn't go very well. I started out the meet doing poorly and then after that it just went downhill. Yet, some how I still made it to Regionals. Just barely though. I needed a 60 and I got a 62.1. My teammate, Eric, did very well. He ended up being state champion. So that was pretty cool. The meet was in Denver at 5280 Gymnastics. I wish it would have been at a different place.. I don't exactly enjoy 5280's gym.. But overall it wasn't a very good meet.

1st day back
Today will be my first day back at gym for a week and a half. I had the flu all of last week so I didn't go to gym at all and then I was still feeling sick this week and had lots of homework so I didn't go. I am not looking forward to going today. It is going to be rough. I have been missing a lot of gym lately for being sick and then having lots of homework. I am looking forward to getting back into working out on a daily bases again. It should be good.

Jonathan Horton: 2nd place high bar at Olympics. 1st all-around 2006 and 2007 Tyson American Cup.
1st place all around 2009 and 2010 visa cup championships. 4th place world championships in 2007. Won six NCAA individual titles.
Paul Hamm: 1st all-around 2008 Pacific Rim Championships. 1st all-around 2008 Tyson. 1st all around 2004 Pacific Alliance Championships.
Then the big one is the 2004 Olympics 1st place gold medal.
Correlation between the two? I think yes. I think out of all of the big national team member gymnasts right now that Jonathan Horton has the greatest chance to win a gold medal at the up coming Olympics. Now many skeptics would say that if you look at China, Japan, or any other powerhouse teams that we don't have a chance. But that's what people said about the 2004 Olympics. That we didn't have a chance. And yet Paul Hamm won 1st place. I believe Jonathan Horton could follow in the footsteps of Paul Hamm in these next Olympics and prove all the skeptics wrong.

First Blog Post
I created this blog because gymnastics is a large part of my life and a main interest of mine. I have been doing it for 12 years and enjoy it a lot. Right now I am a first year level 9 gymnast. My goal for gymnastics is to become a level 10 gymnast and go to Nationals. Nationals would be amazing to go to and compete at since only the top level 9's and 10's are able to compete there. Overall I created this blog for expression of my own gymnastic career and also to talk about new, intriguing, and cool events that are happening in the sport of gymnastics.
